Upbeat, fun, adorable, and super talented would be the first words I use to describe Calee.  Followed ever so quickly by firmly grounded.  Through life experiences, she has found herself rooted to her faith and is now sharing that with others through her beautiful, inspirational music.  Don’t forget to check out her video, “She Put the Music in Me” about her amazing mother and enjoy today’s podcast episode!

Calee Reed was born in Rexburg, Idaho, and grew up in San Diego, California. Her mother was a vocal coach, and Calee was taught to sing at a very young age. By the time Calee was a teenager, her sisters and she were performing in multi-part harmony all over Southern California – from professional athletic events to Disneyland.

Calee began writing music of her own after high school – experimenting with different genres ranging from grunge rock to pop. She spent time working with producers writing and selling music to bands and TV shows, like ABC’s hit show ‘Switched at Birth’.

After battling colon cancer for four years, her mother became terminally ill and Calee began writing worship music of her own as a way to sustain her faith. Calee credits Christian music for keeping her belief in God alive during that difficult time.

She penned The Waiting Place – her debut album – as a way to give back to the music community and reach others who find themselves experiencing similar trials in life.

The album was released by Shadow Mountain Records in May of 2012. A music video for “She Put the Music in Me” features home video and photos of Calee’s mother (available via YouTube). All proceeds from the download of that song in were donated to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

Since the release of The Waiting Place, she has traveled the country sharing her message of hope and faith. Calee has shared the stage with her own personal spiritual heroes (Brad Wilcox, Sheri Dew, John Bytheway, and more) as a presenter with the Time Out for Women/Girls program(s) since 2013.

Calee’s second album, an EP titled ‘What Heaven Feels Like’, was released in July of 2015 by Shadow Mountain Records. What Heaven Feels Like is a continuation of Calee’s desire to share her testimony and encouragement through music.

Calee and her adorable 3 year old daughter Violet live in American Fork, Utah.
